The Portsmouth Brewery has been rocking beer lovers’ worlds for 30 years now. Back in the day, it would host local rock musicians in the Jimmy Laponza Lounge, and one of those bands, Heavens to Murgatroid (HTM), is celebrating its 30th anniversary too.
Nostalgia being a strong brew in itself, the Brewery has decided to hold a 30th Anniversary Retro Rock Show on Saturday, April 30th, featuring HTM with legendary Seacoast garage band Jupiter 2 opening.
Members of both bands played at the Brewery’s subterranean lounge in the ‘90s and, though the details are sketchy, remember the smoke, the packed rooms, and the echoing sound of their lyrics ricocheting from the walls.
“It was great,” says HTM bass player Tim McCoy. “We are looking forward to playing together again and being back at the Brewery.”
Except this time, the show will be on the main floor. The restaurant will close early, some tables and chairs will be cleared, and doors will open at 7. The bands will play from 8 to 11 p.m.
Advance tickets are $20. Day-of tickets are $25. The show is 21-plus.
