BY JOE LANDRY
The special holiday production of It’s a Wonderful Life returns to New Hampshire Theatre Project!
"A sweet production - polished, smooth and engaging"
Jeanné McCartin, 2018 - The Edge Review
Joe Landry has re-envisioned the beloved film classic as a 1940’s style radio play. Five seasoned actors bring George, Clarence, Mary and all the residents of Bedford Falls to life on that fateful Christmas Eve – over 40 different roles. The show features holiday music and a foley artist playing live sound effects. Its charming message fits perfectly with NHTP's season theme, as George Bailey learns that he does indeed make a difference to the town of Bedford Falls.
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is directed by Robin Fowler and stars Genevieve Aichele, Bill Humphreys, Brennan Donnell, Todd Hunter, David Kaye and Kathleen Somssich, with CJ Lewis playing live music and sound effects.
The original film of It’s a Wonderful Life was produced and directed by Frank Capra in 1946, based on a short story called The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern. Although it premiered to lukewarm reviews, the movie was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is considered to be one of the most loved films in American Cinema, and one of the most inspirational films of all time.
