Fabiola Mendez Trio
Fabiola Méndez, B.M is a Puerto Rican cuatro player, singer, composer, and educator. Her artistic vision and original music focus on the exploration of her culture, her ancestry, and her identities. Fabiola’s music is heavily influenced by Puerto Rican folk traditions as it features cuatro, a five double-string guitar that is Puerto Rico's national instrument. While drawing from the deep folk traditions of her home, Fabiola pushes the boundaries of traditional cuatro playing through her use of contemporary harmony and an array of pedals which introduce a modern palette of sounds.
Currently, Fabiola and her trio present her original music nationally and internationally. She is an artist in residence for the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, a fellow for Whippoorwill Arts, and a composer for children's animated series, including PBS Kids shows Alma's Way and Work It Out Wombats, and HBO Max's Mecha Builders, produced by Sesame Street.
